When you’re focused on leading and growing a company, the last thing you need is IT systems that give you a headache.
If any of these things sound familiar, the issue could lie with your current IT Managed Service Provider (MSP).
Keep reading to learn the telltale signs you may have outgrown your MSP and, more importantly, what to do next.
When systems run slowly, your business suffers. Sluggish IT not only damages the productivity of your teams—which in turn can affect how they’re able to support your customers—but can also lead to missed leads and lost opportunities for new business.
If you’re starting to hear more IT complaints from your employees than normal, it’s time to take a closer look at your current MSP.
Is troubleshooting your IT issues taking longer than it used to? Do the people you’re dealing with at your current MSP seem to lack the right level of technical knowledge to solve your problem?
If so, you may need to find a more specialized managed IT provider to support you.
This could be a sign that your current MSP has taken on too many clients. The result? Your business and its needs are no longer receiving the attention they deserve.
The reason you hired an MSP in the first place was to benefit from their IT expertise. They should be your IT eyes and ears, keeping on top of new threats and opportunities—not just fixing problems as and when they arise.
If your current MSP doesn’t regularly check in with you and offer proactive recommendations, it’s time to look elsewhere.
Do your IT requests often fall through the cracks? If you find yourself having to spend valuable time chasing things up, this may be a sign that your current MSP lacks the skills, knowledge, and ticket management processes to adequately serve your business.
IT services that aren’t backed by strategic thinking will not help you in the long run. Your MSP should engineer your systems with scalability and flexibility in mind, so you can quickly adapt to changes and new challenges.
They should also be there to suggest new products that can streamline your operations, and warn you about any systems that are becoming obsolete well ahead of time.
Does your current MSP have rigid service offerings? The plan you originally signed up for may no longer best serve your business as it operates today—which can mean you’re facing escalating costs to pay for everything you need now.
If your managed IT provider is failing to meet their contractual obligations, this is a big red flag. We recommend you take the time to review the contract you signed. If you find any obligations that are no longer being fulfilled, it’s definitely time to look for a new MSP.
If you’re being underserved by your current MSP, it can cause serious harm to your business—not only in terms of lost productivity, but also in potential damage to customer relationships. And not to mention that you may be paying over the odds for services that are no longer meeting your needs!
If one or more of these signs resonates with you, the chances are you’ve outgrown your MSP.
It’s time to look for a new managed services provider who won’t give you a headache! When choosing your new MSP, find one who is willing to take the time to get to know your business, and will support you with proactive recommendations and a clear IT strategy.
